Hola! I'm Steve.
My name is Steven Teskey. I'm an internationally accredited educator, open-source advocate and professional developer from Calgary, AB, Canada.
I consider myself a pretty lucky duck: I found early on in my professional career that my drive is to coach, mentor and sponsor the ongoing growth of my team. I am a teacher at heart and have worked with incredible schools bringing quality education to young people internationally. This early professional episode laid the groundwork for my interest in architecting resilient and safe environments that encouraged growth. (It's easy to discount that experience as "only applicable" for children, but building respect is a universal concept and consider the lesson's you would learn after motivating a performance mindset with 30 people who aren't motivated by material gain.) I have since transitioned into the technology industry as a Senior Software Engineer at ClickUp, where I create accessible and performant digital experiences on the Web Content team. (We’re hiring btw!)
When I'm not working, I can be found testing and contributing to open-source projects. You can find my latest experiments on Github. My entire workflow is based upon open-source contributions and software (I run Linux full-time at home and at work 👋), so I try to give back whatever I can to those who have freely given their time and effort for the greater good.
In my day job, I'm constantly refactoring, refining and improving code and whenever I am away from my desk I try to do the same for my health. I love bouldering or any other opportunities to build up mental or physical discipline.
